Datura History

Datura; The West Kootenay's blackened/death-blast/melodic/chakra-churning/soul-searing/piledriving/groove metal band, formed in 2002 in the small town of Riondel, British Columbia, on the east shore of Kootenay Lake

The founding members, Evan Arnott (Guitar), Levi Sheppard (Guitar) and Kyle Sheppard (Drums), began by covering a vast repertoire in the likes of Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Slayer, Death, and even Opeth

They quickly progressed to writing and in 2006 recruited long time friend a fellow musician Joey Orton to play bass. Later that same year they would add vocalist Mike Gemzik (Beijing Tank, Homeless Yellow) to complete the line-up for the first time. Joey left after a short stint of gigging with the band, and Mike decided to leave the band and persue his side project Homeless Yellow at his home in Australia, after recording only a couple of tracks for the band

The band is currently a full unit, working hard in the studio, and touring Western Canada in Spring 2009 with new found members Adam Tschritter (Bass Guitar) and Sean Folk (Vocals)
